This old standby is next to Washington’s classiest strip club. Men frequently start at the whale and when they cant get lucky go next door, spend the rest of their money (another story). The whale is long and narrow and dark with a massive fireplace in the middle. You will see stuffed animals (bison, boars, etc) everywhere which have no correlation to the crowd or the bar itself. The crowd after 6:30 p.m. tends to be young and professional. The bartenders are personable and are used to slinging a lot of drinks. It takes a few visits to cultivate them along with generous tips. A variety of draft beers are available including several micro-brews. Check the drink specials (each night is sponsored by a different brewer and you can get that beer cheap).
