WHY BECOME A BARTENDER ?

Bartending is a passion and an interest. It can be looked upon in various forms. One could choose bartending as a long-term career or just take it up as a part time job. It is with interest that one can develop a liking for the trade. In India the beverage industry has gone over a drastic change over the last five years. This change has not just been in the field of beverage marketing but it's been also in the form of bars and pubs mushrooming and the consumer concept also changing to a great extent. This has brought in a demand for more professionals in the field of bartending. Due to lack of input by the hospitality trade in the field of bartending and no recognition being given to bartenders until now, it has left a major gap and fulfilling this gap would require professional bartenders. Thus there have been openings in the field of bartending all over the country as every bar or pub that opens today requires a professional to manage them. Also freelancing in private parties or corporate parties is a normal thing today because every host would like to have a person behind his/her bar handling the bar professionally.
Bartending overseas is something, which is very common as a part time trade, and getting a job in a bar is no big deal. Cruise ships recruit bartenders on a regular basis. Bartending is also a tough life because one is working most at odd hours and for a long duration. It requires a lot of sacrifices as regards to time and social life. The trade also demands and requires a lot of updation about the trade and product from time to time which has to come despite less time available with each bartender.
