Hospitality World, Bangalore
HospitalityWorld (HW), 2008 – India’s largest and complete B2B Hospitality Trade Show will be held on June 19th-21st 2008 at the Trade Center, KTPO, White Field, Bangalore. The 3 day exhibition is expected to attract over 7000 trade visitors and will feature over 300 national & international exhibiting companies showcasing the latest products and services, technologies and industry trends. Hong Kong International Wine Expo
HKIWE is a new stand-alone trade fair launched by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) co-locating with the long-standing Food Expo held annually since 1990. HKIWE will feature leading wine dealers, cellars and vineyards from around the world, targeted primarily at the Asian market, China in particular. The exhibit categories will include liquor & beverage products, wine production & logistics, wine investment and oenological/sommelier pre-requisites. In August, 2008.

ROHL to unveil new pub
Royal Orchid Hotels Ltd (ROHL) will take its signature restaurants across its various hotel formats, and is set to unveil a new pub that will first be set up at Pune before being launched in its properties elsewhere.
Chokhi Dhani plans to expand to 38 locations
Chokhi Dani, the Rajasthani heritage restaurant and long time Jaipur tourist magnet and land mark is at long last expanding, with ambitious plans of being in upto 38 locations. Work has already begun in franchise outlets in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Jaisalmer and Surat.

United Spirits to add new selections in its wine portfolio
United Spirits Ltd has launched Zinzi Red wine and Zinzi White wine. Zinzi Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Zinfandel grape varieties while Zinzi White is a blend of the classic Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.

New Beer brands to hit the Indian markets soon
Half-a-dozen beer brands are making their India debut this summer. Some of the well-known names in the pipeline are Lowenbrau, Stella Artois, Beck's, Baron's Strong Beer, Tiger, Cobra Bite and even an array of British ales.
Boost your Wine sales! Wine sales to triple by 2011
Indians drank 66,000 hectolitres or 8 million bottles of grape-based wines in 2006. And the consumption is expected to triple by 2011 to reach 1,88,000 hectolitres, according to a study released by Bordeaux-based Vinexpo and British consultancy firm, the International Wines and Spirits Record (IWSR). The wine market at the same time is expected to display a growth rate of 30% per annum. The study also pointed out that domestic wines contributed three-fourths of all the wine consumed in India in 2006 while imported wines made up for the rest.

Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce launches Wine Course
The Indo-Italian Chamber in collaboration with The Gourmet Magazine is introducing India's first sommelier course targeted at students and professionals in the hospitality industry.
The course will be held over three weeks - two of which will be in Mumbai and one in Italy. Upon completion of the course, students will receive an International Sommelier diploma. That's the certification handed out by the Federation of Italian Sommeliers and Restaurateurs and is recognized by the European Union. Topics covered will include wine-processing, organoleptic wine-tasting techniques and wine-serving. Each course will have a maximum of 30 students.

US$35,000 bottle of wine
A GBP18,000 (US$35,000) bottle of wine, a Petrus 1961, was ordered from a Michelin-starred London restaurant last week. But upon noticing there was no stamp on the cork, the indulgent diner complained to the management that the wine could be a fake. The situation was saved by the sale of a GBP20,000 alternative, a magnum of Mouton Rothschild 1945. From the Just Drinks Business Blog.

There are some people out there who if they like the beer served in a pub will go out and buy the entire pub! Madonna and her husband love Timothy Taylor’s Landlord Beer so much that they bought the pub. The pub is called the Punchbowl and it’s in London’s Mayfair area. The first reference to oil workers in Iran creating the Screwdriver comes in an article from the April 1965 issue of House & Garden, 'Cocktail lore and legend':
